AMERICAN WINE, A RISING MARKET

PE Labellers - AMERICAN WINE, A RISING MARKET

The Made in USA wine par excellence is produced in California, with about 90% of American wine coming from this state.

The United States represent the largest wine market in the world in terms of sales volume and revenue and the market is in constant growth. In 2011, wine sales in the U.S. reached a record 347 million cases, worth 33 billion dollars, over 60% of the wine from California. In 2014 California will benefit from two vintages, notable in terms of quantity and quality over those of 2012 and 2013.

California is the world's fourth most important wine-producing area after France, Italy and Spain. Wine has been produced in California since the eighteenth century, thanks to the Spanish missionaries. Over the past twenty years, the number of wineries (this region on the West Coast today has more than 900 wineries) has quadrupled and the surface area planted with vines has doubled, equal to about 224,000 hectares with more than 100 different denominations (recognized since 1980), where about 111 different kinds of grape vine are cultivated.

P.E. USA is focusing strongly on this market with two events in which involve P.E. USA will participate as a direct exhibitor for the first time: the first is the UNIFIED WINE & GRAPE SYMPOSIUM which just ended in Sacramento; the second, the OREGON WINE SYMPOSIUM (stand #413) will take place on February 25 and 26 in Portland.
